For our final project in 3D Applications, we were tasked with creating the branding around a pop-up of some kind. In addition to the logo and color palette, we created additional assets that expanded upon the concept.
74 Seconds is an informational pop-up booth that seeks to bring more awareness to sexual assault. It is named after the statistic that every seventy-four seconds, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted. It was important to keep the statistics and language around the pop-up as gender neutral as possible. This type of violence has deep roots within the patriarchy, but all genders are affected by it and can be victimized by it. Most conversation revolves around women as victims and survivors, so I aimed to bring men further into the conversation.
A core part of the informational side of this pop-up lies within the usage of posters. The walls are plastered with them, making the statistics impossible to avoid or ignore. It also serves as marketing, as the posters can be wheatpasted around the city.
Most of the profits, which are then donated to charities and organizations that work to support sexual assault victims, are produced by the small, swag-bag-esque items. Stickers with statistics can be easily shared on notebooks, device cases, or even street signs and lamp posts.
The business cards are not meant to promote the pop-up; instead, they contain the phone numbers and text lines for the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network and the National Domestic Violence hotlines. Disguising them as business cards means that they can be easily and secretly shared to someone who may be in need of help.
